Mitsubishi Machine Control
Fast, Deterministic Control With Exceptional Cost-Performance.
For the right machine, Mitsubishi gives OEMs a tightly integrated controls platform with remarkable performance from compact hardware. Automation Solutions has worked with Mitsubishi controls since 1990 and knows how to use the platform well beyond the obvious features.
Why Mitsubishi
A deeply integrated automation ecosystem.
Mitsubishi Electric spans controllers, servos, VFDs, HMIs, motion, robotics, CNC, and core semiconductor technologies. That depth helps create a control platform whose pieces are engineered to work together.
For OEM machinery, the result can be fewer layers, less unnecessary hardware, fast deterministic behavior, and strong cost-performance when the architecture fits the application.
PLC
FX/iQ-F through iQ-R for compact to larger machine architectures.
Servo
MR-J5 and MR-J4 families for high-performance machine motion.
VFD
FREQROL A800, E800, and D800 families for motor control.
HMI
GOT family integration for operation, diagnostics, setup, and maintenance.
Remote I/O
Distributed machine architectures without abandoning the ecosystem.
Motion
Integrated positioning and coordinated machine-control options.
MELFA Robots
Robot integration, programming, networking, and support across current and legacy Mitsubishi robot platforms.
The FX / iQ-F Advantage
Compact hardware can do far more than many machine builders expect.
The FX family has been one of the strongest examples of Mitsubishi's machine-control value for decades. Modern iQ-F systems combine conventional PLC control with high-speed functions, positioning, interrupts, networking, and motion capability in a compact package.
High-Speed Functions
Built-in counters, positioning, and hardware-oriented functions can reduce the need for extra devices or complexity.
Deterministic Response
Direct access to fast control behavior can matter in machinery where timing is part of the machine's performance.
Compact Integration
PLC, motion, communications, and machine functions can often be consolidated into less hardware.
Cost-Performance
The platform can deliver sophisticated machine control without requiring a large rack architecture.
Deep Platform Experience
The hardware only matters if the integrator knows how to use it.
Automation Solutions has worked with Mitsubishi since 1990. That means our experience spans both current platforms and the generations that came before them.
Current Mitsubishi Platforms
From compact machines to sophisticated integrated systems.
Legacy Mitsubishi Support
We know the old systems because we worked with them when they were current.
A surprising amount of 20-, 30-, and even 40-year-old Mitsubishi equipment is still running production today. Automation Solutions has hands-on history with these generations and can help troubleshoot, document, migrate, or modernize them without treating the existing machine like a mystery.
F, F2, A, AnA, AnS, Q and more
We regularly encounter early F/F2 and FX-family systems, A-series and AnA CPUs, compact AnS/QnAS systems, and Q-series installations. AnA and AnS systems in particular remain common in plants decades after installation and are frequent modernization candidates.
A800, A900, F900, E-Series, GOT1000
Our HMI experience goes back through early GOT generations, including A800-era units, A900 and F900 families, E-Series terminals, GOT1000, and today's GOT2000 systems. That history helps when a machine needs more than a simple screen replacement.
Older MELSERVO, FREQROL and MELFA
We support legacy servo and inverter installations as well as Mitsubishi MELFA robots, including older RV/RH generations and current FR-series systems. Modernization can involve the whole machine architecture—not just swapping one controller.
Need help with a 1990s Mitsubishi PLC, GOT, servo, VFD, network, or robot? Those exact model names matter when diagnosing an old machine, and they are part of the installed base we know how to work with.
Mitsubishi Networking Experience
From proprietary data links to modern deterministic Ethernet.
Our Mitsubishi experience includes not only controllers and drives, but the networks that tied successive generations of machines together. That matters when an older system has to communicate with newer hardware—or when a modernization needs to preserve the behavior of an existing distributed system.
Serviceability & Value
“Everyone knows Allen-Bradley. Why should I use Mitsubishi?”
Familiarity matters—but it is not the only thing that matters. For many OEM machines, Mitsubishi can provide lower hardware cost, strong reliability, tightly integrated motion and drive control, and high-speed functions that reduce complexity elsewhere in the system.
The more important question is whether your integrator understands the platform deeply enough to make those advantages real.
Why We Still Choose Mitsubishi When Open Platforms Exist
Because open is not automatically better—and proprietary is not automatically worse.
Automation Solutions keeps both Mitsubishi and CODESYS-based architectures in the toolbox. We choose based on the machine.
Choose Mitsubishi when...
- High-speed deterministic machine control matters
- Compact cost-effective integration matters
- PLC, servo, VFD, and HMI integration is central
- The machine benefits from hardware-specific functions and a tightly integrated ecosystem
- Long-term industrial serviceability matters
Choose an open CODESYS architecture when...
- Controller-brand flexibility matters more
- Code portability across hardware platforms is important
- The machine benefits from an open Linux-based platform
- Supply-chain substitution and software portability are strategic priorities
What Deep Experience Changes
Getting more from the platform can change the machine economics.
A controller can look expensive or inexpensive depending on how much additional hardware, engineering, and complexity it eliminates. Deep platform knowledge lets us use built-in capabilities before adding another module, device, or subsystem.

Frequently Asked Questions
Mitsubishi controls for OEM machinery
Why would an OEM choose Mitsubishi instead of Allen-Bradley?
For many machine applications, Mitsubishi can offer excellent cost-performance, strong reliability, compact architecture, and tight integration among PLC, servo, drive, and HMI products. The right choice still depends on customer standards, support requirements, and the machine itself.
Does Automation Solutions support older Mitsubishi PLCs?
Yes. Our Mitsubishi experience dates to 1990, and we continue to work on AnA, AnU, AnS, Q-series, and other installed systems as well as current iQ-F and iQ-R platforms.
Which Mitsubishi servo platforms do you support?
MR-J5 is our preferred current Mitsubishi servo platform, followed by MR-J4. We also encounter and support other installed Mitsubishi servo families where appropriate.
Which Mitsubishi VFD families do you support?
Our current work commonly includes FREQROL A800, E800, and D800 series drives, along with existing installed Mitsubishi drive systems.
Can Mitsubishi handle demanding motion-control applications?
Yes. Mitsubishi has a broad global motion and servo portfolio used in demanding machine, robotic, and CNC applications. We select the PLC, motion, servo, and network architecture based on the application's actual requirements.
Will Automation Solutions work within our existing Mitsubishi standards?
Yes. We can work within an OEM's existing electrical, PLC, HMI, motion, and component standards. We may recommend changes when there is a meaningful technical or lifecycle advantage, but we do not change a proven architecture simply because our preference is different.
Can you modernize an older Mitsubishi-controlled machine?
Yes. Our installed-base experience can be especially useful when moving older MELSEC systems toward current iQ-F or iQ-R platforms while preserving the machine behavior and support requirements that matter.
Can you support AnA, AnS, F/F2, Q-series, or other older MELSEC PLCs?
Yes. We have direct experience across these generations, including systems we first worked with when the products were current. That can be valuable for troubleshooting, documentation recovery, staged upgrades, and full modernization.
Can you help replace an old A800/A900/F900/GOT1000 or E-Series HMI?
Yes. We can evaluate the existing HMI, PLC communications, screen behavior, recipes, alarms, and operator workflow before selecting and implementing a replacement such as GOT2000 where appropriate.
